Economic Development
-Business Attraction: In recent years, Mike Seferian has attracted businesses like Jake & Cooper's Bark Park, Buffalo Rock Brewing Co., and Dairy Queen to Oregon.
-Town Center Development & Progress: Despite global challenges impacting the timeline of the Oregon Town Center, Mayor Mike has stayed true to his promise to develop a walkable area in Oregon, including a new Sheetz gas station and fast food joint, a housing subdivision of over 30 homes, and new restaurants and entertainment that will break ground this spring.
-Industrial Growth: Mayor Seferian has been working on an agreement that would bring a large data processing and storage center to Oregon, further developing Oregon as a city of industry and community. In addition to the recent plans for the data center, Seferian oversaw the building of a new power plant in 2013, which has been benefitting the citizens of Oregon for over ten years.
Public Safety Initiatives
-Police Leadership: In 2020, Mayor Seferian appointed Brandon Begin as the new Chief of Police, ensuring that the Oregon Police Division continued to thrive with strong leadership.
-Crime Deterrence Technology: The Oregon City Council approved the implementation of Flock Cameras to deter theft in the retail areas around the city of Oregon and assist with identifying persons associated with crime.
-Navarre Safety Project: Mayor Mike has also been working on a road safety plan that will make Navarre safer to drive on, keeping up with the expected influx of business and visitors when the Town Center is finished.
Fiscal Responsibility
-Financial Oversight: Mike Seferian has been dedicated to transparency and accountability when it comes to the money the city of Oregon spends. This includes ensuring that financial statements from organizations like the Oregon Economic Development Foundation are properly reviewed and balanced.
Community Engagement
-Boomfest: Each year, Mayor Seferian plays a huge role in the production of Boomfest in Oregon, helping to spread information about the event and being involved in the planning of Oregon's Fourth of July celebration.
-Oregon, Ohio Buckeyes on the Bay, City of Duck Hunters: During the Ohio State Buckeyes' national championship run in 2015, Mayor Seferian temporarily changed the name of the city of Oregon to show support to the Buckeyes, demonstrating community spirit within the state of Ohio and our beloved city of Oregon.
